MB Road Durga Puja Samiti, nestled in Pushp Vihar, Sector-1, Saket, New Delhi, has been spreading joy and festive cheer since 1975. For nearly five decades, this beloved Samiti has been the heart of Bengali culture in the region — uniting families, friends, and neighbours in the vibrant celebration of Durga Puja. With colourful traditions, soulful music, cultural performances, and the aroma of festive feasts, it’s not just a puja — it’s a joyous homecoming that keeps our heritage alive year after year.
MB Road Durga Puja Samiti (MBRDPS) was founded in 1975 in Pushp Vihar, Sector-I, near Saket in South Delhi, by a close-knit group of Bengali families determined to celebrate Durga Puja and preserve their cultural roots. In the early days, a handful of government-employed Bengali families, instead of traveling to other parts of Delhi for the festivities, decided to create their own puja. The very first committee gathered in the home of Shri S.R. Gupta, who became the first President, with Shri R.N. Bhattacharjee serving as the inaugural General Secretary. Other key founding members included Shri Amarendra N. Das, Shri Santi Dev Mukherjee, Shri Robin Bandopadhyay, Nimai Bose, L.P. Sonkar, and Pradeep Das Gupta.
From its humble beginnings, MBRDPS has flourished into one of the most cherished cultural events in Delhi, drawing devotees and visitors from across the city. Over time, the samiti has embraced eco-friendly practices — crafting idols from clay and mud, using vegetable-based dyes, and serving prasad on areca leaf plates.
Beyond celebrations, MBRDPS is deeply committed to social responsibility. Partnering with organizations like Help Age India and Hope Hall Foundation, it organizes charitable initiatives such as clothing drives for the underprivileged.
Today, MB Road Durga Puja Samiti stands as a vibrant symbol of tradition, devotion, and community spirit — celebrating the grandeur of Durga Puja while fostering Bengali culture in the heart of Delhi.
Behind the vibrant lights, soulful chants, and festive joy, stand the people who make it all possible. Our dedicated team members are the true backbones of this Durga Puja – planning every detail, managing every moment, and ensuring that every visitor feels the warmth of celebration. They are not just organizers; they are family, united by devotion and the spirit of togetherness.
